CARIES PREVENTION
If tooth decay is present once and attacked the tooth, this can only be cured by a dental treatment. Therefore, prevention is particularly important to keep a pain-free and confident smile.
An effective caries prevention is based on four pillars:
1. Healthy diet:
Health starts with a balanced and varied diet. Carbohydrate-rich foods should make up the majority of your daily calorie intake.
But sugar and other rapidly fermentable carbohydrates should be limiting. This applies especially for candies which are sticky and adhering to the teeth.
2. Dental care:
A conscientious dental care is of great importance.
You should brush your teeth at least twice a day!
Spaces between the teeth should be cleaned with dental floss to give the caries bacteria no chance.
3. Intake of fluorides:
It is crucial that sufficient fluorides are also supplied, as they have a reputation for the high caries protective effect. Fluoride-containing dentifrice such as toothpastes, rinses or gels are achieved by a local protective effect. In addition, fluoride promotes healthy tooth development and a lower susceptibility to caries of the teeth.
4. Regular dental check:
At least twice a year you should examine your teeth and your mouth by a dentist to treat potential tooth damage early. If you afraid of pain at the dentist, you should rather go for checkups as often as possible, because the most effective measure to avoid painful treatments, is not to wait until such treatments are necessary.
